About Us

Footprints Learning for Life Nursery is the highest award winning nursery in Hartlepool and we are confident that we provide the best quality childcare in the town. We have an all round GOOD rating from OFSTED, hold the prestigious GOLD Investors In People (held by less than 1% of nurseries), won 2 Hartlepool Business Awards for Best Service Sector Company and Investment in Training and won a National Nursery World Award for Team Development in 2011 We are situated just a few minutes’ walk from the train station, in the centre of Hartlepool and easily accessible on foot, by car or bus. From the minute you walk through the door, you know that you are welcome and the atmosphere feels just right. You don’t need fancy, glossy, shiny new buildings to genuinely care for children and we cherish our old converted premises. We embrace the homely caring feel that belongs to our building and we pride ourselves on having a happy, loving nursery. You will find that the environment in which we look after our children is safe, warm, and friendly, not forgetting the stimulating learning that we endorse through play. As a parent you can feel confident that your children are being cared for by our experienced and mature staff that are passionate about providing the highest standards and quality of childcare and education.

As a private nursery registered with OFSTED, we are able to accommodate children from birth to five years in nursery and up to twelve years old for essential out of school services.

Please feel free to pop into Footprints and have a look around our nursery at any time. No appointment necessary.

* GO-FER SERVICE:  if you are too busy for those little jobs we’ll take care of them for you

* OUR FLEXIBLE APPROACH: We understand it’s not easy being a working parent and we aim to make your life as easy as possible. We don’t like to say no so our motto is ‘if we can do it we will’

Across both settings all of our staff are carefully selected by a rigorous vetting procedure and everybody is fully DSB checked. Each member of staff is fully qualified and experienced and they all work to our required high standard. Currently, all staff hold at least a level 3 childcare qualification. Our friendly and professional team is committed to continuous professional development in order to ensure your child receives the best care. We provide a stable and relaxed atmosphere and with an exceptionally low staff turnover we can ensure continuity of care which allows the children to feel secure. Teamwork is essential to the running of the nursery and all staff members support and uphold our reputation. We hold regular team-building activities and we value our staff and all of their hard work. Staff and management meetings are held after working hours on a regular basis. All staff receive new and refresher training in all aspects of childcare, eg first aid, child protection, food hygiene, etc. We endorse and encourage staff to continue with their professional and personal studies at all times. We offer students the opportunity to come and learn at our nursery. We have a rolling programme for students and apprentices, starting from year eleven and those who may be considering the first step in a childcare career, right through to those nearing completion of college courses. Many of our successful students often come back to work for us once their initial courses are complete. Whilst students work here, they are fully police checked and always supervised. When they have been suitably assessed, in line with our training programme, and are considered knowledgeable, able and ready for the responsibility of the role, they may be used as bank staff.  Until that time, they are always surplus to our staff.

Tees Street

We have our own separate entrance with a complete security system involving innovative fingerprint access and cctv cameras inside and out for the protection of the children, parents and staff. The entrance door is controlled by a built in camera telephone system which is closely monitored by nursery staff within the building. We have an alarm system and we are also linked into the fire alarm within the People Centre, and further linked to the fire brigade. We have CCTV cameras within the nursery, in all rooms, the corridor, outside in the play area and the entry door. All images and audio is recorded and stored on the systems secure hard drive for up to a month before being deleted unless saved for a specific purpose.

Rift House

Located within a Sure Start Childrens Centre we have a completely secure access system. The main childcare area is accessed through a keypad controlled door and parents and visitors can only enter if given access from staff on duty.

We do not currently have CCTV at our Rift House setting but due to the nature of the open plan environment the Manager has full view of the main room at all times.

All accidents are recorded in our accident book and parents will be notified of treatment given and the circumstances surrounding the injury. You will be asked to sign the appropriate forms acknowledging treatment. In the event of a serious accident or illness requiring immediate medical attention, the nursery will be responsible for administering treatment immediately. Parents will be notified promptly. Medication We are aware that at times children will need to be given medication during nursery hours. You will be required to give permission by signing the appropriate forms. Only medication prescribed to your child will be administered. If your child becomes ill during the day at Footprints, we will notify you, and if necessary ask you to collect them as soon as possible. If your child contracts any contagious illness please notify us immediately. 48 hours clear of sickness and diarrhoea is required before returning to the nursery. We have comprehensive policies in relation to this, in line with advice from Tees Health Authority.

In the unlikely event you are not satisfied with the service that Footprints provides, a copy of the complaints procedure is available and every endeavour will be made to rectify the situation. All complaints are logged in a complaints book and available to view, with steps taken to ensure confidentiality.

As a registered child care facility it is our duty to advise the necessary authorities should we suspect any child is in need of protection. All staff members are trained in child protection and our policy is available on request.

We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all children. We have many children at Footprints who have individual and special needs. We welcome all children to our nursery irrespective of health, physical, learning or other needs. We have staff who are SENCO trained and we are pleased to liaise with you on any aspect in relation to this. All policies and procedures are readily available to view.
